It is generative.
Love doesn't run out when you give it. It multiplies. That's the whole idea in the phrase.
The philosophy
It's the law my life and my work run on. Give love, and it multiplies: in each other, a family, a team, a community. I founded a school, a charity and a movement on it. Now I bring it to leaders who carry responsibility for other people.
What the law means
01
Love doesn't run out when you give it. It multiplies. That's the whole idea in the phrase.
02
What you give to one person carries on into their family, their team, their community. You never see the end of it.
03
One baby. One leader. One organisation. One country. Same law, different size.
04
It holds whether or not you feel loving today. That's what makes it a standard rather than a sentiment.
Where it came from
I didn't read this in a book. I found it — or it found me — and it changed my life. I have lived this as a mother with three children born within three and a half years. In my business creating nurturing care for millions of families across the world and in a charity in Malawi. It came to me in a name I chose at fifty. Love isn't a soft idea to me. It's the only thing I've built anything on, and my North Star in everything.
Leadership is an ethical act. The ethics begin with love.
It's also the title of my book, Love Creates Love.
Care, community and service are how the law is practised. If these are your values too, I'd love to hear from you.
